Byker Grove was a British television series which aired between 1989 and 2006 and was created by Adele Rose. The show was broadcast at 5.10pm after Newsround on CBBC on BBC One. It was aimed at an older teenager and young adult audience, tackling serious and sometimes controversial storylines.
Seasons
Season 1
Julie Warner is a reluctant newcomer to Newcastle. Her attitude does not endear her to other kids who she meets at Byker Grove, a centre for young people in Newcastle.
Season 2
As six months pass by, things change quickly at Byker Grove. It's Donna's birthday, but before the party, she must find out why her mum broke her promise.
Season 3
Gill's death brings Julie back to Newcastle, and at the Grove they are thinking of ways to raise money for Gill's memorial. Nicola is involved in a Green Brigade meeting. Robert concentrates on walking again. Joanne wants her brother to join her from Hong Kong.
Season 4
Joanne has decisions to make about her future in America. Spuggie goes to California and meets Matt Bendigo, and thoughts of Marcus fade. Joanne arrives back at the Grove but finds things have changed.
Season 5
Debbie is unable to face PJ as he returns for the first time since his accident. His friends Amanda and Duncan try to keep his spirits high but they know that the person PJ really needs to be with is Debbie. Byker Grove also gets a debut from the new band in the house Grove Matrix.
Season 6
When ""Screen Teen's"", which is being produced by a local TV station accept Jemma she is thrilled to have her chance at stardom. Lessons are being learnt by Angel and we have new Grove members, brother and sister Alfie, Anna and Flora.
Season 7
The Grove reopens after the fire. Noddy and Gary are given awards for rescuing Geoff, who is temporarily in a wheelchair. The lads are training for the Youth Clubs five-a-side tournament but are unhappy that Alfie is spending so much time with Karen.

Rob takes all the credit when ram-raiders are stopped by him, Terry and Ben.
Tensions between Harry and Cher continue to mount and Cher ends up stealing Harry's idea for a syncromised swimming team.
Meanwhile at the Pool Tournament at the Grove Terry is raving mad when Karen teams up with Rob against him and Ben. And Flora grows a conscience after she hears about Phillip and his poor life.

When the kids notice Geoff being stand-offish they decide that he must be going through a mid-life crisis. In order to cheer him up they all get together to throw him a surprise 70's party.
It came complete with 'performances' by Charlie's Angels (and 'Charlie' who got a face full of cream) and the band The Who.
And on a less than cheery note Harry finally decides she's had enough of Ben and they break up.

The break-in trial of when the Denwell Burn, a rival youth club, broke in is taking its toll as the future of Byker Grove is unsteady. Grove Youth Leader Paul is set up along with Matt to take the fall for the break in and although Matt can clear their name he is too frightened to speak up. Paul's father is afraid that if the truth doesn't come out that he will get a criminal record.
In order to have some cash Regina decides to earn money by delivering papers. Ben's 18th birthday is fast approaching and there are mixed feeling to go with it as he is now an adult and must leave his home with Lou as a foster child.
Trying to cheer Ben up Adam and Luke plan a party for him but Claire is planning to move back with her parents in Tenerife and still hasn't told Ben.
Season 15
The series returns with Ben now concerned with his future due to his criminal record. His father tries to give him a helping hand but Ben wants more out of life.
Development workers are in the forest, the boundaries of the Grove are set to be changed to make room for a housing block. Regina is determined to stop them when she hears about it from Stumpy, Jamie and Robert.
And Bradley shocks the Grove when they all get to meet his girlfriend Sadie.
Season 16
5 months have passed.
Changes are in the air as Norm doesn't like the Grove's policy and he wants stricter rules
Leanne is taken to hospital by her parents, but it's just another 'test run'. Leanne's baby is almost due and she agrees to go and talk to the Grover's about being pregnant after Dom asks her, but Norm stops the conversation and bans Leanne.
After other Grovers protest to Norm about it being unfair, they too are banned.
