Hackett and team stake out a cargo ship carrying £30,000 in silver. A tip-off from snout Ted Knight points the finger at Jack Maynard. When the stakeout is terminated, the team discover Knight with his throat slit on the dock.

A number of art shops have been broken into with paintings stolen to order. Bonney discovers a link to a man called Abbo and curator Jenny Wilder, who has exported paintings from fourteen of the galleries.
